Sozan Mirawdaly
Sozan is an award-winning communications strategist and journalist with significant experience in the banking and credit union financial services sector. As Director, Corporate and Financial Communications with NATIONAL in Toronto, Sozan works with clients across industries, consulting on both communications strategies and content marketing. She has assisted many B2C and B2B brands with everything from executive and corporate profiling and thought leadership, to media relations and media training, annual reports, to crisis and issues management and website development. Sozan is passionate about helping brands create authentic connections with stakeholders, build trust and awareness, and motivating audiences using compelling and educational content built on strategies.
Before joining NATIONAL, she spent four years managing the digital content strategy and content team for TD Bank out of the Corporate and Public Affairs division, where she also ghostwrote thought leadership content and managed sensitive issues for senior executives at Canada’s second-largest bank. At Canada’s largest credit union (Vancity in Vancouver, B.C.), Sozan’s awareness of social issues, and her communications and editorial vision resulted in strategies that earned the brand’s best coverage to date on their media reports. She has also designed and launched two editorial-style branded content sites for financial institutions.
Sozan started her career as a print and broadcast journalist, covering sectors including business, marketing, human rights, education, travel and politics for Maclean’s magazine, the Ottawa Citizen newspaper, and Canadian Business, among others.
She holds a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of King’s College and is a Canadian Museum for Human Rights contributor.
