On June 13, the first Ghislain Dufour Business Forum was held in a hybrid format, during which many people were able to attend the event in person, a first since the beginning of March 2020. During the event, participants had the opportunity to meet the Minister for Transport and Minister Responsible for the Metropolis and the Montréal Region, Chantal Rouleau.
During her speech, Minister Rouleau began by outlining the government's achievements since 2018, as well as the challenges it has had to face, particularly due to the COVID-19 health crisis.
She also took the opportunity to celebrate the completion of the SRB-Pie IX project, as well as the announcement of the $6.4 billion budget for the extension of the Montréal metro's blue line. According to her, the concerted efforts of the ARTM, the City of Montréal and the Government of Québec will best serve the realization of the Eastern REM project, which she hopes to see completed quickly.
Finally, the Minister said she was very confident about the prospects for economic development that the joint signing of the declaration to revitalize Montréal's east end—a first for Québec—and the considerable sums granted by the government to ensure the revival of the city's downtown core would bring.
