The Ghislain Dufour Business ForumTM launched its fall season on Wednesday, November 14, with the visit of Canada’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, the Honourable Navdeep Bains. Instead of the traditional presentation format, Mr. Bains opted for an open discussion with host Robert Lupien, and generously took time to answer many of the audience’s questions.

As members of the Forum could appreciate, Minister Bain is optimistic about Canada’s prospects on the international trade front, citing the country’s leadership in the artificial intelligence industry and the innovativeness of local businesses as key assets.

Minister Bains’ intervention was preceded by a comprehensive presentation by our colleague John Parisella on the recent midterms elections in the United States, which saw the Democratic party reclaim House majority. Mr. Parisella’s in-depth understanding of American politics and its stakeholders helped members of the forum get a better perspective of the meaning and scope of these results.
