On April 3, the Ghislain Dufour Business Forum welcomed the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of International Trade of Canada.

There was strong turnout to hear Mr. Champagne, who clearly has a unique ability to sell our country and its strong competitive advantages in terms of economic development and international trade.

According to the minister, Canada is better poised than ever to build bridges between Atlantic and Pacific economies, with partners viewing Canada as having managed to catalyze its diversity as a springboard to success. He pointed to the video games industry, where there is wide recognition that products developed by Canadian studios become international successes, in large part due to the ability of our creative teams to integrate elements that appeal to a variety of cultures.

The minister also referred to Canada’s dominant position in Artificial Intelligence, which is increasingly attracting major players, with the economy undergoing major changes all the while.

Mr. Champagne concluded by exhorting those present to seize opportunities, to not be daunted by their ambitions and to fully use all their strengths and skills to assert themselves on the world’s markets.
