Michelle began her Public Relations career 11 years ago, as Press Secretary to the Minister of International Cooperation and as a Communication Advisor to the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities. Prior to joining NATIONAL, Michelle was the Public Relations Advisor at the federal Crown Corporation, PPP Canada where she led the development of Public Relations strategies to engage stakeholder groups within the P3 infrastructure market space including with municipalities on best practices for public engagement. Michelle’s been in the trenches and has gained first-hand experience providing advice and counsel in high-pressure, high-risk situations.
As Director, Strategic Communications and Public Engagement at NATIONAL, Michelle is responsible for the management of public relations accounts for clients with national and regional communications mandates.
From campaign conception to narrative development, to channel identification and tactical implementation. She works with clients to create and implement strategic and integrated communications plans that further brand and business objectives and provides tactical advice and direction to ensure meaningful engagement with multi-stakeholder groups and key audiences. Michelle takes great pride in working with clients to help them advance professional communications practices; offering personalized and group coaching to identify techniques that will help them enhance presentation delivery style and build the confidence they need to connect, persuade and influence their audiences.
Michelle is a graduate of Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she earned a degree in Political Science. She also holds recent certifications in Digital and Social Media Strategy and in Presentations and Interpersonal Communications through Sprott School of Business.
