Leading Madano’s Energy practice since May 2017, Michael is an experienced energy professional with skills that bridge public relations and public policy, including strategic messaging, project management, crisis communications, media training, content generation and stakeholder relations. He leads a number of client assignments from London on national and international campaigns in the energy space.
Coming from Edelman where he was UK Energy Lead and played a strong role in developing the firm’s UK and European energy business, Michael’s expertise in energy stretches back throughout his career. He previously worked for Hill+Knowlton Strategies in London and Moscow, focusing on major reputational issues for energy, mining and industrial companies. During his time at H+K he was also seconded to Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and Egypt.
Michael has advised many of the world’s largest players in the energy and mining industries including Energy UK, EVRAZ, Linde Gas, Masdar, Nord Stream, the OGCI, Petrobras, Rio Tinto, Saudi Aramco, Shell and SPX FLOW.
Michael gained a PhD. in history at the University of Leeds and Masters degrees from the College of Europe (Warsaw) and the Jagellonian University (Krakow). He is a fluent Russian-speaker and speaks excellent German and Polish.
Outside of work he is an instructor and 3rd Dan in the Japan Karate Association and competes in national and international competitions.
