Richard Mahoney


Richard Mahoney has exceptional experience in Canada’s governing process, including service as an advisor to the Rt. Hon. Paul Martin, Canada’s 21st Prime Minister, serving as his first executive assistant and helping him throughout his career in politics. He has worked for, advised and assisted many public figures such as the Rt. Hon. John Turner, as well as then-finance minister Marc Lalonde. He specializes in public policy issue management and regulatory affairs. He has helped solve client business challenges in the fields of energy, telecommunications, financial services, technology, land use and planning, and entertainment, among others. A frequent commentator on Canadian politics and public policy, Richard is also a former president of the Ontario Liberal Party, serving as campaign chair and in advisory capacities in various provincial election campaigns. He has successfully built national and local political organizations with the help of various cultural communities. He has built the coordinating structures that link those organizations into electoral machines. He has participated in targeted national political advertising campaigns, understands the role of research and polling in successful national campaigns and has successfully deployed the latest in campaign techniques and tactics. He also spent seven years as a weekly television panellist on TVOntario’s award-winning "Studio 2," and has appeared frequently on various other media such as CTV, CBC, Newsworld, Radio-Canada and The Globe & Mail. He has trained and advised politicians on how to speak to the media and how to communicate effectively. Richard is otherwise active in the business world, serving as chairman of HousAll Systems Corp, an Ottawa-based company that markets transitional shelters to the worldwide market, and on a number of boards. He chairs the board of the Ottawa Bluesfest.
