Building Strong Ties Between Canada and the UK

Posted Friday, February 06, 2015

In an effort to build and consolidate British-Canadian ties, Madano hosted a special lunch earlier this week with charter members of the Canada-UK Chamber of Commerce and their guests.

Guest speaker Martin Donnelly, Permanent Secretary at the UK Government’s Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, offered a presentation on the theme of “Developing a national industrial strategy for a global economy”, followed by a lively Q&A session.

Chaired by Madano Partner Matthew Moth, the event included senior executives from a wide range of companies and organisations involved in UK-Canada relations including representatives from Air Canada, TD Securities, BMO, Shell, Stikeman Elliot, RBC, SNC-Lavalin, McCarthy Tétrault, Gowlings, Blackberry, the Canadian High Commission, and the governments of Ontario, British Colombia and Alberta. The new Agent-General for Quebec in London, Christos Sirros, and RES PUBLICA executive vice-president and chief financial officer Royal Poulin, were also in attendance.
